Fiesta Time

It's that time of year: where the mornings are crisp, the leaves are beginning to change, and the skies are filled with hundreds of hot air balloons in every color.  This past week was Balloon Fiesta and, of course, we took part.
The girls were surprisingly happy for being pulled out of bed at 5:30am and filled with excitement to see all the "ba-boon" as Megan would say.
The weather was beautiful and as the sun started to rise, we enjoyed our front row seats to see all the balloons inflate and "blast off" as Hailey liked to say.  The crowd often cheers as the balloons leave the ground and the girls quickly took part with shouts of excitement, clapping and waving.
Megan's eyes were glued to the sky and it seemed like she just couldn't get enough of all the action.
Hailey loved all the special shapes, but was especially happy to see the owl balloon, one of her favorites from last year.
The pictures don't quite seem to capture the moment and the magnitude of the event, but here are a few of our favorites from this year.  (Hey, it is the most photographed event in the world!)
We headed back down to the park for an evening balloon glow, which unfortunately got cancelled due to high winds, but we still had a great time.  We had a picnic dinner and the girls enjoyed running around, dancing to the music and practicing their yoga moves.
During the fireworks show, there was a lot of pointing and many "oooh's" coming from both girls as the sky was once again filled with bright colors.  Hailey was kind enough to tell us what color each firework was and, to no surprise, liked the multicolor 'rainbow' ones the best.
It was another wonderful year for the Fiesta.  We enjoyed seeing all the hot air balloons in the sky every morning and enjoyed the fireworks from our window almost every night.  Hopefully the kids had as much fun as we did and will have some great memories until next year.

I love the pictures and the new blog post. The girls are getting so big. Thanks again for keeping this blog up to date. It is always fun for me to tune in and see what is going on. I really need to make it down for the Balloon Fiesta one of these years.

I can't believe how many wonderful pictures you managed to get - of the balloons AND the kids! Next year we'll have to meet you at an event for sure.
