Last night we had our first camping adventure with the kids. We had a great time and Hailey even said "it was the best first camping trip I've ever been on".
The girls were excited to help Daddy set up the tent (and just as excited to play inside).
After exploring the woods, the kids enjoyed collecting pine cones, wildflowers and firewood around camp.
Although they were a bit unsure about the fire at first, the girls thought it was quite fun to cook their own dinner.
Megan was quite proud to eat it too.
As with any proper campout, we rounded out the night with smores. With a marshmallow mustache and chin as evidence, Megan said hers was very good. Hailey and Megan both decided this was their favorite part of the trip and tried to convince us they needed more smores after breakfast.
In the morning, the girls enjoyed running through the nearby meadow and loved exploring the great outdoors.
All in all, our camping trip was successful and we had a lot of fun. Hailey summed it up best as we were sitting around the campfire and looking at the stars: "Mommy, Daddy, do you know what the best part of camping is?....Spending time as a family".
