Although the weather is just now beginning to cool down to fall temperatures, we've been busy with many fall activities over the last few weeks. We visited two pumpkin patches where the girls had a great time mastering a hay bale maze, taking a hay ride, leading us through a giant corn maze, zooming down a giant slide, and picking out the perfect pumpkin.
We also acquired some larger pumpkins to carve, but these cuties are definitely our pick of the patch.
We were fortunate to have Grandma and Grandpa visiting from Colorado to help us celebrate Halloween. Hailey and Megan loved all the special attention, fun activities and playing lots of games.
At a return visit to the pumpkin patch, the kids did a little riding and roping (Megan even tried to rope Grandma).
Back at home, we made Halloween crafts and cookies to get in the mood for the big day.
All our visits to the pumpkin patch meant we had plenty of pumpkins to carve. Hailey loved scooping out the seeds and strings from the pumpkins, but Megan wouldn't even put her hand inside or touch a seed. To no surprise, Megan wanted a kitty pumpkin just like her beloved Muffin.
Hailey ultimately decided on a jack-o-lantern face with big round eyes and a matching mouth. Many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for their expert carving skills!
This year was Megan's first time trick-or-treating and she quickly got the hang of things after the first house and kept telling us "this is fun". Hailey was a great big sister and led Megan up to the door, told her where to stand and made sure she got treats too. The girls insisted on calling each other "little bumble bee" and "rainbow" and often walked hand in hand between houses. A great time was had by all and the girls are already looking forward to going again next year.
Many thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for the great visit and wonderful memories. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
